Kat Sparks is a writer, script consultant, actress, producer, and director in Austin, Texas. Kat started her career in the world of soap opera series such as “The Young and the Restless” and has continued on to become an award-winning writer and director for both theater and films.  Her scripts have won dozens of festival placements, and she was recently selected as one of the “New American Voices” by the Queens Theatre, New York. She has over 20+ years experience directing high-profile theatre plays such as SWEAT, which received glorious reviews in The Austin Chronicle and Playbill. She has also worked as a script consultant with the Austin Film Festival and produced her own writer festivals.  Kat is the founding member of Southwest Film Productions, her directorial debut includes “Applause,” a SAG short film about the difficulties of aging and being replaced in the industry. She has two more short films on the way and her first feature film is currently in development.
